PAMPERING YOUR PRECIOUS SHAWL
So you’ve gone ahead and decided that “Yes! These beautiful Pashminas are just what I’ve always wanted!” But now that you’ve treated yourself to this delightful luxury, you may be losing your smile a bit in worrying about how you’re possibly going to know how to take care of this beautiful and practical woolen wrap. Or you may even be slightly deterred from making such a valuable investment because you’re afraid that with all the low maintenance associated with the rest of your wardrobe, you’ll never be able to take proper care of this gorgeous shawl.

Well then, Never Fear! We’ve taken your worries into account and are here to give you all the wonderful advice you’ll ever need to know about pampering your Pashmina so that it always stays in perfect condition.

Pashmina Cleaning DO's:

  1. WASHING: Wash it by hand in luke-warm (more on the cold side) water. For those of you unfamiliar to the ancient tradition of washing clothes by hand, all this really means is that you splash it around in soapy water, maybe rub it a little bit, and then rinse it through two or three times until there's no more soap left. With Pashminas you want to be extra careful. You don't even really want to rub it. Just soak it for a bit until you feel like all those annoying little dirt smidgens have disappeared. Then just swish it around in the sink, rinse it and Voila! Your Pashmina is clean!
  2. DRYING: To Dry, spread it out on a drying rack, but make sure not to let it just hang there, because this will stretch the fabric, and of course you don't want a sadly limp and mis-shapen Pashmina lying around. Another option if you don't have a rack is just to get a dry towel and let dry on the towel.
  3. IRONING: Now, your Pashmina is soapily scented and dry. In other words, your Pashmina is now clean. But you find yourself in angst over the numerous wrinkles now populating the surface of your once silky smooth Pashmina! This is perfectly normal. Just place your precious Pashmina between two towels and iron those wrinkles away!
  4. STORAGE: Ahhhh, how wonderful it is to now have a delightfully clean Pashmina again! For storage, just make sure you put in a cooler place that's not too humid or warm.

Pashmina Cleaning DONT's:

  • Get velcro anywhere near your Pashmina. It'll rough up the fabric.
  • Put it in the washing machine
  • Rub the shawl vigorously
  • Pull the fibres when they snag – gently stretch the affected area so the thread will fall back in place
  • Wash it in warm / hot water. This could cause shrinking. Only use lukewarm (more on the cool end) water
  • Iron it directly (Look at cleaning step 3)
  • Wrap it up carelessly, as this will cause unsightly wrinkles
  • Let it get bleached out in perpetually radiant sunlight
